Taxi drivers in Uzbekistan provided services worth 7.2 trillion soums in 8 months

In January–August 2026, 242 taxi aggregators were integrated with the information systems of tax authorities. During this period, a total of 329 million passenger trips were made. The passenger transportation turnover exceeded 7.2 trillion soums.

Of the turnover, 4.5 trillion soums or 63.1 percent was accounted for by cash payments, and 2.6 trillion soums or 36.9 percent by non-cash payments. The average receipt amount was 21,785.5 soums. Passenger transportation services through aggregators are provided by 481.1 thousand self-employed drivers. Of these, 4,107 are women.

In January–August, the number of drivers who earned more than 100 million soums from taxi services exceeded 7.9 thousand. Those who earned 50–100 million soums amounted to 31.5 thousand, 10–50 million soums — 124.4 thousand, 5–10 million soums — 59.9 thousand, 1–5 million soums — 123.6 thousand, and those who earned up to 1 million soums amounted to 133.7 thousand people.

The most commonly used cars in taxis were Cobalt (27 percent), Nexia (19.3 percent), and Lacetti (16.1 percent). The share of electric vehicles was 2.5 percent. 16.3 percent of the cars have been in use for 1–3 years, 37.1 percent for 3–5 years, 17.3 percent for 5–10 years, and 29.2 percent for more than 10 years.

During this period, aggregators paid a total of 149.2 billion soums in taxes. Of this, 46.8 billion soums was accounted for by value-added tax (VAT).

Starting from January 1, 2026, with amendments made to the Tax Code, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed persons must now pay a 1 percent turnover tax on turnover up to 1 billion soums.

To be more precise, if a self-employed taxi driver earns 2 million soums in a month, the amount of tax they must pay is only 20 thousand soums. If the driver operates a taxi through online aggregators, the tax withholding will be carried out automatically by the aggregator when transferring earnings to the drivers.
