More than 4.1 thousand offenses related to the burning of fallen leaves and plant residues recorded in Uzbekistan in 9 months

In the elapsed period of 2026 in Uzbekistan, administrative protocols were drawn up for more than 4,100 cases related to the burning of fallen leaves and plant residues.

When such waste is burned, carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, fine particulate matter, and other harmful compounds are released into the atmospheric air. The smoke spreads to residential areas, leading to a deterioration in air quality. It is reported that the Eco-police are conducting enhanced control measures to prevent these offenses.

In addition, in cooperation with the "Uzbekkosmos" agency, cases of burning straw residues in fields cleared of grain are being monitored using aerospace technologies. Within the framework of the State Space Monitoring Program, 915 such cases were identified, and administrative fines were applied to the guilty persons. Damage is calculated in accordance with the procedure established by legislation for each hectare of crop area where a fire occurred.

According to current legislation, polluting the atmospheric air by burning fallen leaves, stubble, branches, and other plant residues in fields and settlements is prohibited. In accordance with the third part of Article 88 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, a fine ranging from 1 million 320 thousand UZS to 2 million 200 thousand UZS is established for citizens for this offense, and from 8 million 800 thousand UZS to 13 million 200 thousand UZS for officials.

If the offense is committed repeatedly within a year after the application of an administrative penalty, citizens may be fined up to 3 million 80 thousand UZS, and officials up to 22 million UZS. The Ecology Committee asked citizens to report cases of burning fallen leaves and plant residues via the short number 1157 or the @ecogovuz_bot Telegram bot.
