In Uzbekistan, more than 2 thousand earthquakes were recorded over nine months
During January–September 2026, 2.2 thousand earthquakes were registered in Uzbekistan. To monitor seismic activity, the country combined information from its own stations with data from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan.
This was reported by Khurshid Sotiev, Head of the Emergency Prevention Department, at a conference dedicated to emergency prevention and preparation for the autumn-winter season.
The national monitoring network includes 108 seismic stations. Another 57 stations from three neighboring states were added to it: 26 from Kyrgyzstan, 15 from Tajikistan, and 16 from Kazakhstan. Information arrives in real time via the SeisComP software package.
The early warning system is being tested in Tashkent, as well as the Tashkent, Syrdarya, and Jizzakh regions.
Earlier, the countries of Central Asia signed a Joint Statement on cooperation in increasing the region's seismic resilience.
