In Uzbekistan, Master's programs will be divided into practical and scientific-pedagogical tracks

Starting from this academic year, Master's programs in Uzbekistan will be divided into two tracks. Training under the industrial or practical program will last at least one year, while the scientific-pedagogical program will last at least two years.

The new procedure was approved by government decree No. 500. Master's studies will be available in full-time, evening, or distance learning formats, in accordance with the curriculum of the specific specialty. Instead of a thesis, graduates of the practical track will be able to defend a project or design work, a startup, an innovative idea, a practical creative work, or another type of final project.

For graduates of the scientific-pedagogical track, the Master's thesis will remain. Prior to the preliminary defense, it will be checked for plagiarism and sent for "blind peer review." Students who publish articles in journals will be rewarded.

The new rules do not apply to the Academy of Justice, the Academy of Public Administration, the Banking and Finance Academy, the Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship under the Cabinet of Ministers, the Tashkent State University of Law, as well as higher military and paramilitary educational organizations.
