Uzbekistan may increase fines for airline passengers for repeated violations on board
In Uzbekistan, it is proposed to toughen liability for passengers who repeatedly violate the rules of conduct on board an aircraft. For repeatedly ignoring the crew's requirements within a year, the fine could reach up to 8.8 million soums.
The corresponding draft law has been prepared by the Ministry of Transport.
According to the draft, failure to comply with the orders of the aircraft commander or crew members acting on their behalf will still carry a fine of 2.2 to 4.4 million soums. However, if the violation is repeated within a year after the administrative penalty, the amount will rise to 6.6–8.8 million soums. Currently, Article 117 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility does not contain a separate punishment for a repeated violation.
The amendments are aimed at improving passenger discipline and flight safety. The draft law has not yet been adopted and is under public discussion until October 24. After approval, repeated disobedience to the crew will become grounds for a larger fine.
Uzbekistan Airways clarified that a violator may not only be held liable but also ordered by a court to compensate the airline for expenses incurred due to flight delays.
