The Legislative Chamber approved the first reading of the draft law "On Drugs and Potent Substances." The goal of this document is to create a modern system for regulating the circulation of hazardous substances, ensuring public health protection, and establishing effective cooperation between government agencies.

It proposes to legally define terms such as "drugs," "drug-related crime," "drug situation," "counteracting drug addiction," "counteracting drug-related crime," and "illegal drug lab." The State Drug Control Commission will coordinate all activities in this area.

Furthermore, the draft law contains strict measures to combat new methods of drug distribution, including online sales, and provides for the closure of illegal drug labs and the suppression of smuggling channels.

The document also introduces new mechanisms to combat the laundering of proceeds from drug crimes. Legal entities involved in drug-related crimes or drug money laundering will be able to be liquidated by court order.

At the same time, the bill lays the foundation for broad-based prevention efforts. Government agencies will be tasked with fostering "anti-drug immunity" among the population, particularly young people and women, protecting educational institutions from the spread of illegal substances, and modernizing drug treatment, treatment, and medical and social rehabilitation systems.
