Uzbekistan plans to create a special industrial zone for the production of NPP equipment
A special industrial zone will be established in Uzbekistan to manufacture equipment for the nuclear power plant under construction in the country. It will be located in the Farish district of Jizzakh region.
This was discussed during an open dialogue between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and investors in the fuel and energy sector. As reported by the press secretary of the head of state, Sherzod Asadov, tax and customs privileges will be provided for the zone.
Currently, high-voltage equipment, control modules for energy storage systems, and components for wind turbines are imported in large volumes. At the same time, 12 promising localization projects worth $850 million have already been prepared.
Emphasizing the importance of the project, the head of state cited the example of the Chinese company China Energy, which used nearly 40% of local products during the construction of eight energy storage stations worth about $200 million.
Last year, the value of local goods and services in all energy investment projects reached $740 million. The president noted that this figure could be increased by 3–4 times.
Mirziyoyev urged investors to cooperate in these projects. The Industrial Cooperation Agency and local associations will help determine the quality and volume of required products, as well as establish interaction with enterprises.
