In Turkey, children under 15 will be banned from using social media

Starting November 1, 2026, new restrictions on the use of social networks by children and teenagers are set to come into force in Turkey. The corresponding document was published in the official gazette Resmi Gazete. According to the published information: Users' age will be verified through the state portal e-Devlet. For already existing accounts, the deadline for age confirmation is set as March 31, 2027.

Starting November 1, 2026, new restrictions on the use of social networks by children and teenagers are set to take effect in Turkey. The corresponding document has been published in the official gazette Resmi Gazete.

According to the published information:

- Social networks will not be allowed to provide their services to children under 15 years old.

- For teenagers aged 15 to 18, plans are to automatically set profiles to private and restrict live streaming, targeted advertising, and algorithmic recommendations.

- Platforms will be prohibited from requesting access to contacts and phone books, as well as friend lists from other services.

- Parents will be able to monitor the child's geolocation, spending, app time, and account settings.

Users' age will be verified through the state portal e-Devlet. For already existing accounts, the deadline for age confirmation is set for March 31, 2027.
