In the Fergana Region, a man was detained with five kilograms of hashish

In the Fergana Region, officers of the State Security Service thwarted an attempt to sell 5.6 kilograms of hashish, which had previously been smuggled from Kyrgyzstan. A 33-year-old man was detained on suspicion of involvement in illicit drug trafficking.

The State Security Service conducted the special operation jointly with the regional customs and internal affairs departments. The suspect retrieved the drugs from a hiding place and was heading to Fergana in a Cobalt car. When officers attempted to stop him, the man failed to comply with their demands, threw a utility bag out of the car, and tried to flee.

Inside the bag, five bricks of a substance resembling hashish, with a total weight of 5.6 kilograms, were found. According to the agency, the drugs had previously been smuggled from the territory of Kyrgyzstan and left in a hiding place.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Article 246 of the Criminal Code. He has been taken into custody. The investigation is working to identify potential accomplices.
