The Moscow Khokimiyat (city administration) is proposing to switch city and district administrations, departments, and subordinate units to a schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. According to the Center for Traffic Management (TsODD), this could reduce traffic congestion during morning rush hour by approximately 15%. The proposal has been submitted for public discussion.
Tashkent is considering changing the work schedules of city and district khokimiyats, as well as city departments and their subordinate agencies. According to the proposal, the workday will begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m., as reported by the city administration's press service.
This change will not affect the overall length of the workday, but employees will arrive and leave work an hour earlier. The khokimiyat explains this by saying that many social institutions and some government agencies already begin work at 8:00 a.m. Synchronizing these schedules, according to authorities, will expedite the coordination of issues requiring the participation of multiple agencies.
The initiative comes from the Traffic Management Center (TMC), which conducted an analysis and modeling of traffic flows, taking into account the number of schoolchildren and university students. The TMC estimates that moving the workday forward an hour will allow for a more even distribution of traffic flows and reduce congestion on Tashkent's road network during morning rush hours by approximately 15%.
The proposal has been submitted for public discussion. The Khokimiyat (city administration) encourages residents of the capital to participate in the survey and express their opinions. The results are scheduled to be announced on August 31.
