In Tashkent, the traffic pattern at the Mustaqillik-Akkurgan intersection is being changed.
The Tashkent Traffic Management Center and the Tashkent Traffic Safety Department announced a change to the traffic pattern at one of the capital's major intersections. The left turn from Mustakillik Street onto Akkurgan Street is closed; a right turn must be made around the former Pushkin Square. A direct exit from Parkent Street onto Mustakillik Street has been opened.
In Tashkent, traffic patterns at the intersection of Mustakillik Avenue and Akkurgan Street are changing. The Traffic Management Center (TMC) and the City Traffic Safety Department (CTSD) announced this.
1. The left turn from Mustakillik Avenue onto Akkurgan Street will now be closed. Drivers should proceed straight ahead, then turn right after the former Pushkin Square toward Parkent Street, rejoin Mustakillik Avenue, and then turn right onto Akkurgan Street.
2. To exit Parkent Street onto Mustakillik Avenue, drivers must now proceed straight along the former one-way section, without turning right to bypass the square. Traffic lights have been installed at this section.
According to the TMC, "this decision is intended to reduce congestion at the intersection, ensure smooth and even traffic flow, and improve road safety."
The reports did not provide information about the pedestrian crossing arrangements. Gazeta promises to cover this issue later.
Previously, the asphalt pavement, traffic lights, and associated infrastructure along a 1.7-kilometer stretch of Mustakillik Avenue were upgraded. Specifically, a polymer-crushed-stone-mastic coating (PShMA-20) was installed. A bus stop near the former Pushkin Square was restored.
