Children's and Football Playground Given Away for Construction in Tashkent Returned to Residents
In the Uchtepa district of Tashkent, a children's and football playground that had been given away for the construction of a retail and consumer services outlet has been returned to the residents. This was announced on September 7 by the President's People's Reception.
According to the report, in 2014–2015, residents living in buildings 42-44 in the Taqachi block of the Quyi Darxon neighborhood built a football and children's playground through community efforts (hashar) at their own expense on a neglected vacant plot located between buildings 2 and 3. For several years, residents living in this area and their children had been using these playgrounds.
In March 2026, individuals introducing themselves as representatives of Inter Express Service LLC visited the Quyi Darxon neighborhood several times and stated that construction work was planned in this area. Expressing their dissatisfaction, the residents sent an appeal to the President's People's Reception on March 16, 2026.
The appeal was reviewed by the Uchtepa district prosecutor's office. The response letter noted that in 2018, based on decision No. 946 of the khokim of Uchtepa district, this land was allocated to Inter Express Service LLC for the construction of a retail and consumer services outlet, and was also state-registered and registered under the name of the LLC by the State Cadastre Chamber on February 25, 2025.
Since a detailed legal assessment of this matter had not been provided during the investigation and the following circumstances had not been fully examined, the President's People's Reception returned the appeal for execution on June 17: on what grounds the area where the football and children's playground was located was assessed as vacant land and allocated to a business entity; and why, despite the land plot being allocated in 2018, it had not been used for its intended purpose to date.
As a result, according to the decision of the Tashkent Interdistrict Economic Court, the rights of Inter Express Service LLC to this land plot were annulled.
The Prosecutor General's Office was instructed to conduct a full inventory of such objects across the entire city of Tashkent. A criminal case was initiated regarding the construction work carried out on the site of the children's playground.
In the same month, a construction project started between residential buildings in the Yashnobod district of Tashkent was canceled, and a children's playground is to be built in its place.
