In St. Petersburg, the list of prohibited fields of work for migrants will be expanded

The administration of the Russian city of St. Petersburg is preparing to further expand the list of sectors where the labor of migrants working on the basis of patents is prohibited.

According to the document, several other sectors will be added to the taxi and courier services, which are already closed to foreigners.

It is proposed to include retail trade in the list of prohibited sectors — migrants will not be able to work in grocery stores and department stores, fruit, meat, and fish stalls, bakeries, and other food retail outlets, as well as in fitness centers, sports clubs, sanatoriums, sanitary-epidemiological services, and forensic medical examination organizations, hair salons, beauty parlors, and massage parlors.

This refers specifically to the ban for those working on the basis of a patent. This document confirms a foreign citizen's right to work in a specific region of Russia.

The restrictions do not apply to citizens of EAEU countries — Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia, and Kyrgyzstan. Citizens of these countries do not require a patent or a work permit to get a job in Russia. They obtain a work permit under the established quota.
