473 Uzbek citizens denied entry to Georgia in nine months

According to the "Dunyo" information agency, citing data from Uzbekistan Airways, a total of 711 passengers were denied entry into the country at Georgian airports during this period. Among them, 473 were citizens of Uzbekistan.

The reasons for entry refusal were related to the absence of documents such as hotel bookings and return flight tickets, the lack of a medical insurance policy, as well as the inability to confirm the availability of sufficient funds to live on during the trip.

From January 1, 2026, a requirement for medical and accident insurance for foreign tourists comes into effect in Georgia. The policy must be issued in paper or electronic form, in the Georgian or English language.

Insurance can be purchased from a Georgian or foreign insurance company. The insurance coverage under the policy is required to be at least 30 thousand Georgian lari.

The policy must cover the tourist's entire stay in the country, including the days of entry into and exit from Georgia.

The document must specify the parties to the contract, the territory where the insurance applies, the object of insurance, the start and end dates, covered risks, and the coverage limit. Additionally, the amount of the insurance payment, the place, and the terms of its payment must also be recorded.

The following are exempt from the mandatory insurance requirement: holders of diplomatic and special visas; holders of diplomatic, service, official, and special passports; accredited staff of diplomatic and consular missions, representations of international organizations, and equivalent structures, as well as their accredited family members;

Persons entering Georgia in accordance with international treaties and agreements; drivers engaged in international road freight and passenger transport.

Uzbek citizens planning to travel to Georgia are advised to clearly determine the purpose of the trip in advance and to prepare documents confirming the presence of a hotel booking, a return flight ticket, an insurance policy, and sufficient funds.
