In Kazakhstan, the verdict has been announced in the case of the explosion at the "Plov Center" cafe.

In Kazakhstan, the trial concerning the February explosion at the "Plov Center" cafe in Shchuchinsk, which killed 12 people and injured 11 others, has concluded.

The incident occurred on February 26, 2026. A gas explosion took place at the cafe, followed by a fire. It was later revealed that two gas cylinders had been delivered to the establishment the day before, with one of them filled beyond the permissible limit.

As established by the court, the cylinder was located near a heating radiator. Due to the heat, the pressure inside it increased, resulting in the cylinder wall rupturing. This was followed by the explosion and fire.

During the proceedings, it was also established that the cafe owner had violated fire safety requirements. Gas cylinders were used in the establishment and stored in violation of the rules. Furthermore, the employees had not undergone the necessary training on the operation of gas equipment.

Liability was also established regarding the director of the gas filling station. The court concluded that he had permitted the filling of household gas cylinders without the necessary documentation, equipment, and monitoring devices, as well as without trained personnel.

As a result, all three defendants were found guilty. The cafe owner and the director of the gas filling station were each sentenced to seven years in prison, while the cylinder deliveryman received six years. The judicial acts have not yet entered into force.
