In India, 15 people died as a result of a truck crashing into pilgrims

Near the Shitla Mata temple in the Indian city of Gwalior, 15 people were killed when a truck lost control and crashed into pilgrims; the police reported that 29 people were injured.

The incident occurred on October 18 at 01:30 local time. According to preliminary data, the truck loaded with rice lost control on a steep slope.

The truck broke through police barricades, ran over the pilgrims, and then crashed into the wall and gate of the temple. Police reported that at least five people are in critical condition.

"There was a barricade and a police checkpoint on this road. The investigation will determine how the vehicle got in there," said Ruchika Chauhan, head of the Gwalior district administration.

According to witnesses, the truck was overloaded.
