“If documents are submitted correctly, rejection is impossible.” Comment provided on the registration of new parties

At a press conference held in Tashkent on the topic “Uzbekistan without Bureaucracy,” Tohirjon Safarov, Deputy Head of the Agency for Strategic Development and Reforms, expressed his views on the problems in the process of registering new parties and initiative groups, reductions in public administration, and the opening date of the Public Chamber.

“We are monitoring the ongoing events. In the press, some citizens have been pointing out that the process is very difficult. However, if we review the signatures collected by them, it becomes clear that the signatures were not collected in accordance with the established procedure, and the persons who signed are unknown,” said the agency official.

Tohirjon Safarov stated that he had personally communicated with the leadership of the Ministry of Justice on this matter, adding that if the documents are submitted correctly and in order according to the requirements of the law, it is impossible to reject them, but the materials presented so far do not fully comply with the requirements of the law.

During the conference, information was also provided about reforms in government agencies and staff reductions. According to the agency representative, 1,500 positions have been cut in the public services over the past three years. In particular:

More than 300 from the government apparatus;

More than 300 positions were cut from the Presidential Administration during the reforms two years ago.

It was also announced that the number of deputy district khokims in the regions has currently been reduced to four as an experiment, including the merger of the position of deputy for women's issues with the deputy for youth policy issues. If this experiment yields positive results by the end of the year, it is planned to implement it in all regions.

The press conference also specifically addressed the issue of the Public Chamber, which has been delayed for years:

“Currently, we are creating mechanisms to launch the activities of the Public Chamber and ensure how it can function effectively. We can say that everything is ready for now, the documents are complete. Now, only assembling the team remains. We hope that a team of specialists will be formed and work will begin in the coming days,” said the deputy head of the agency.
