"I regret getting involved in the movie." Muzaffar Sa'dullayev on why he didn't star in the third part of "Children in the Sky"

“I regret getting involved in the cinema.” Muzaffar Sa’dullayev spoke about the reason why he did not appear in the third part of “Children in the Sky”.

Actor and craftsman Muzaffar Sa’dullayev, who is well known to the audience for his roles as Hamdam in the film “Children in the Sky” and Kurban in “Vatan”, spoke in an interview with the YouTube channel “Intervyu TV” about his regrets about entering the film industry, the fact that he has been engaged in tinsmithing for more than 30 years, and his personal life.

**About the actor’s personal life**

— In 2002, after the filming of the film “Children in the Sky” was completed, I started a family in the summer at the age of 22. Thank God, I have three sons. They are all grown up. My eldest son graduated from the Turin Polytechnic University and has been working in the IT sector for two years. My middle son is studying at the Tashkent Medical Academy. My youngest is in the 9th grade at school. We are currently planning to get my eldest son married and start a family.

**“My hair turned gray after my father passed away”**

— My father passed away due to the 2020 pandemic. My hair turned gray due to various trials and anxieties of life. People whose parents are alive are always happy and smiling. Even if you lose one of them, half of your heart is empty and sometimes you fall into depression. Thank God, my mother is sitting with us, praying for our lives.

**Why didn't the actor star in the third part of “Children in Heaven”?**

— I have said before that I did not study film, in particular acting. Besides, as you get older, you look at things differently. That's why I thought about it a lot. After my father died, I didn't have the same desire to work in the cinema as I used to. I asked the film director Zulfiqar Musokov to understand me correctly and told him that I wouldn't be filming in the third part. At that time, I told Zulfiqar aka, "Maybe I can't fully explain why I don't want to participate, but the truth is, I've moved away from cinema a lot," and I explained my feelings to the best of my ability. So, I didn't have the desire to star in the film, he says.

**About the actor's father**

— My father was born in 1955 in Tashkent, in a middle-class family. He graduated from higher education in Moscow with a degree in economics. After returning from a year of military service, he began working as an administrator in the administrative group of the Uzbekfilm film studio in 1978. At that time, it was very difficult to get close to Uzbekfilm. After that, he was engaged in organizational work for many years, during which he worked as a deputy director of the film.

In 1990, he founded the Inson film studio. He worked there for a long time as the deputy director of the studio. In 2002, after many studios were privatized, they bought this place themselves. The Inson film studio still exists. Since 2019, I have been managing it myself as the director of the studio. My father's entire life was devoted to cinema. In general, for 42 years, he worked as a director and administrator of the film, organizing more than 100 films, says Muzaffar Sa'dullayev.

**“I left cinema completely”**

— I left cinema completely as an actor, it’s been a long time. The last time I starred in the film “Zabarjad” was in 2006. After that, I ended my acting career and worked as a film director on several films. But I haven’t been working in this field for four years. Although I receive many offers asking me to continue working in this direction, and sometimes they ask for help with administrative issues, I refuse. I explain the work to those who apply and leave it to them how to proceed. I try to teach those I know correctly as much as possible.

**“I have been a craftsman for 33 years”**

— My maternal grandfather was a craftsman tunic maker. I learned this craft from my uncle. After the artisans' stall behind the dome in Chorsu was completed, we started working in shop number 13. As soon as I came home from school and had lunch, I would rush to Chorsu. So, from 1994 to 1999, I learned the secrets of the trade from my uncle for five years.

My father called me to the studio when they were working on the film "Alpomish". When I came and asked my uncle for advice, he said: "Muzaffar, I have taught you everything I know so far. I have no other secrets left. You have mastered one trade. You know what to do with it. If you want, stay and work with me, or if you want, go and work with your dad in the studio."

**How much did the actor get paid for the film “Children in the Sky”?**

— For that time, I received a fee of 400-500 dollars. At that time, you could buy a “Moskvich” car for this amount. If we calculate according to the prices of that time, they paid about a third of the cost of a house. I received a slightly higher salary for the film “Homeland”. But by 2006, prices had also risen significantly.

**“Even if a craftsman does not get rich, he will always have money”**

— Today, you can easily make a living from crafts. Currently, there is a lot of construction work in Uzbekistan. Every household needs tin products. When I was just starting out in the industry, my uncle used to say, “Even if an artist never gets rich, he always has money in his pocket.” It’s true that actors can earn more money for a single project than an artist. But they finish a role in a project in 10-15 days and then wait for the next one. An artist, on the other hand, is constantly busy with work.

**“I regret getting involved in cinema”**

— I had to leave it several times because of the injustices in cinema. But that’s not the case in the art world. Because in the art world, people don’t hide anything from each other. In return, they come and give their opinions and recommendations, hoping to help. If something you’ve made turns out a little wrong, the neighboring master will help you fix it. But I’ve never seen anyone hide what they’re doing.

Recently, I have been thinking, "I wish I had done more with my craft." After all, no one has ever cheated me in this field. On the contrary, they have helped me. I regret getting involved in this field because there has been a lot of cheating in the world of cinema. It took me 20 years to get into cinema. And no one can bring back the life that has passed. Even so, I am happy that I mastered the craft of tinsmithing. If I could go back to my childhood and choose another profession, I would still choose this profession, says actor and craftsman Muzaffar Sa'dullayev.
