Ahad Qayum is leaving show business: a poem worth 5 thousand dollars, sharp thoughts about Ulugbek Rahmatullayev and Uzbek cinema
Poet, screenwriter and director Ahad Qayum announced his decision to leave show business after 25 years of creative activity in an interview with the “Daryo Lifestyle” YouTube channel. He spoke frankly about his health, his place in art, Uzbek cinema and his relationship with some artists.
**Is your decision to leave show business firm?**
— My life was spent in these filming processes. Now it’s a transitional period. Now I have to take care of myself and my parents. But no matter what, I will never, ever return. I don’t even want to go to the cinema and ordinary events.
**What kind of life do you want to live now?**
— I want to live as an ordinary person. I will run a simple blog on Instagram. I gave up expensive circles, expensive restaurants, expensive clothes, and in general, luxurious life.
**What has art given you and taken away from you in 25 years?**
— It would be correct to say that I found everything and lost everything in art, in creativity. Because I have written 60 books, participated in 300 films. I think my fans will not forget me. 60 of my books have been published in 100 thousand copies. People have 20, 30, 40 of my books in their homes. Every day, one of my films is broadcast. My films are everywhere on YouTube. I also sold my poems for a high price. All artists at that time used to say about me, “It costs 5 thousand dollars.”
I believe that even if I blog in an Islamic direction, if I become obsessed with science, religion, or if I completely leave this life, the Uzbek nation will not forget me.
**What will Uzbek cinema lose if you leave cinema?**
— If I leave cinema, Uzbek cinema will not lose anything. I have only used Uzbek cinema, I have raised my reputation. I had no place in Uzbek cinema, I was a spoiled child there.
**Are health-related reasons the only reason for your departure from show business?**
— I do not want to stay in this market at all. This market does not suit me. That is why I want to quietly leave show business and spend my life with the educated class, entrepreneurs, people who have their place in society and science.
**Which situation related to a creator has hurt you the most?**
— Many have hurt my heart, especially Ulugbek Rahmatullayev. I have become so disgusted with him. He has hurt my heart for life. I tried to talk to you three times.
**If this were the last interview of your life, what would you say to your fans?**
— To be honest, I'm stressed right now. If someone asks me a question on the street, I start crying. It was good anyway. Everything was enough, everything was beautiful. Thank you to everyone. I love everyone.
