In the Syrian Arab Republic, tensions are escalating between the government of Ahmad al-Sharaa and foreign militants who previously fought against the regime of Bashar al-Assad. This time, a group of Uzbek Islamists has come forward with sharp criticism of official Damascus. According to their information, Syrian security forces detained 12 of their associates and several foreign women, accusing them of ties to the ISIS terrorist organization and involvement in the escape of jihadists' relatives from the Al-Hol camp.
Representatives of the group directly confirm that they organized the escape from Al-Hol, emphasizing that rescuing their coreligionists was one of the main objectives of their presence in the country and their participation in the armed confrontation. In addition, the Uzbek militants accused the Syrian leader of repressions against those who are undesirable to Israel and Western countries. They declared that they refuse to be an instrument of the republic's current leadership, noting that they prefer false accusations of aiding ISIS to any cooperation with the authorities.
The militants paid special attention to the penitentiary system in Idlib province, calling local prisons "New Guantanamo" and reporting cases of violence, torture, and the deaths of prisoners. They also threatened a serious escalation of the conflict if pressure on foreign radicals continues. Previously, experts linked the preceding roundups of Uzbek militants to their categorical refusal to integrate into the structure of the Syrian Ministry of Defense.
