Hurry, prices have dropped! Turkish investors bought up over 30 state assets in Uzbekistan for $350 million
Turkish business is expanding its presence in Uzbekistan not only through new investments, but also through the privatization of state-owned enterprises. In recent years, investors from Turkey have acquired more than 30 state assets with a total value of about $350 million. This was announced by the head of the State Assets Management Agency, Sokhibjon Murodov, at the SamAuto Supplier Day meeting in Samarkand.
The international business meeting was dedicated to the development of industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey. It was attended by more than 150 representatives of government agencies, industrial enterprises, and business circles of the two countries.
According to Sokhibjon Murodov, the total volume of Turkish investment in Uzbekistan's economy has reached nearly $10 billion. He called privatization not merely a way to sell state assets, but a tool for attracting capital, modernizing enterprises, introducing modern technologies, and creating jobs.
"We view Turkish investors as long-term strategic partners," the head of the agency emphasized.
One of the most notable examples of such cooperation was the deal with SamAuto. In 2025, the Turkish company Anadolu Isuzu acquired a 75.2% stake in the enterprise. The transaction opened up new opportunities for developing production, increasing localization, and expanding export potential.
For Uzbekistan, attracting foreign investors to privatization means an opportunity not only to transfer business to private management, but also to provide enterprises with capital, technologies, and new sales markets. However, the further impact of such deals will depend on the extent to which the new owners can implement their declared plans for modernization and production development.
