How to apply for student accommodation in a dormitory: a step-by-step guide

Accommodation in a student dormitory: step-by-step instructions
It was announced that applications for accommodation in student dormitories will be accepted in Uzbekistan from August 1. This process is carried out completely online, through the Unified Interactive State Services Portal (my.gov.uz) or the kontrakt.edu.uz system. Below is a step-by-step explanation of the process of submitting an application and accommodation through my.gov.uz.
**1. Login to the electronic system:**
* Log in to the my.gov.uz portal via the OneID system.
* In the search section, type the "Student Accommodation" service and select it.
**2. Filling out the questionnaire and data:**
* Your personal data (JSHSHIR, passport data and place of study) will be automatically displayed in the system.
* Check the accuracy of the data and confirm the application.
**3. Specifying benefits (if any):**
* If you have a benefit (for example: children of families included in the "Unified Register of Social Protection", those in the "Iron Book", "Women's Book" or "Youth Book", people with disabilities of groups I and II, true orphans, etc.), the system will automatically detect this or ask you to upload the appropriate document.
**4. Monitoring the status of the application and receiving a Referral (Order):**
* After the application is submitted, it will be considered.
* After the application is approved, a special QR-code Referral (Order) will be generated through the system. Download and print it.
**5. Drawing up a contract and making a payment:**
* With the generated referral, you contact the administration of the university's student residence (dormitory).
* You draw up a contract and make the specified payment.
**How much does it cost?**
There is no single, general price for dormitories in state higher education institutions (HEIs) in Uzbekistan. The amount of the fee is approved independently by the Council of each HEI.
* The average monthly fee in the dormitories of state HEIs is 100,000 - 250,000 soums. This amount is determined by the HEI, depending on the costs of utilities and building maintenance.
* In dormitories based on public-private partnerships (PPPs), the price may be slightly higher (usually around 300,000 - 600,000 soums per month).
* The dormitory fee for student children from families included in the "Unified Register of Social Protection" is fully covered by the state budget. For this, an application must be submitted to the rector of the HEI.
**Who has a preference for accommodation in the dormitory?**
According to the regulations, applicants with preferences and priorities will be placed in the dormitories first. Then, for students on the general list, the number of places remaining in the TJU will be distributed on a turn-by-turn basis as follows:
* 55 - 65 percent for 1st-year students;
* 15 - 20 percent for 2nd-year students;
* 20 - 25 percent for 3rd-year and higher students.
Applications will be accepted until the end of the academic year.
