Guinness World Records has recognized a stallion named Hugo as the tallest living horse in the world, and a pony named Pumuckel as the shortest horse.

Four-year-old Hugo lives on a farm located in the town of Towcester in the English county of Northamptonshire. He stands at 199 cm tall and weighs approximately 890 kg, which is equivalent to the weight of nearly two grand pianos.

Hugo is a Shire horse, an English breed of draft horse. According to reports, representatives of this breed continue to grow until they are seven or eight years old, so there is a high probability that he will break his own record in the future.

The stallion's owners, Brett and Lisa Masters, say that Hugo loves bananas, has a gentle temperament, and is often among people — he is taken to local festivals and village fairs.

Before Hugo, the tallest horse was a Belgian draft horse named Big Jake (210.19 cm). The absolute record for height belongs to a horse named Sampson, who lived in the 19th century and stood at 2.19 meters tall.

The world's smallest horse, named Pumuckel, lives on a farm in Germany. His height is only 52.6 centimeters.

Pumuckel loves attention and hugs, and also willingly plays with children. Among treats, the tiny horse prefers carrots and apples.
