Google Street View updates panoramas of Tashkent

An update of 360-degree panoramic photos and video materials covering the busy streets and tourist sites of Tashkent has started on the Google Maps platform. The project is being implemented on the initiative of the capital's Khokimiyat, its press service reported.

As noted in the message, most of the existing images on the Google Street View service were taken about five years ago and no longer reflect the modern look of the city. In particular, images of Tashkent City show construction work, even though the district has already been completed.

At the first stage, the project covers central streets, parks, and the most visited tourist sites. In the future, it is planned to extend it to the entire territory of Tashkent. Streets and locations where panorama viewing is available are marked in blue.

"Because this platform is used by millions of tourists around the world. Thanks to the implementation of the project, travelers will be able to virtually walk through the streets of Tashkent even before arriving in our country, get acquainted with its sights, and plan their trip in advance," the Khokimiyat noted.

Using the website, one can "walk" through Tashkent City Park, Amir Temur Square, and other places. The panoramas also cover some highways at the entrance to Tashkent — for example, from the direction of Yangiyul.
