It has been reported that Georgian judoka Akaki Japaridze beat up German judoka Timo Cavelius.

According to the report, the Georgian wrestler suffered a defeat in the match. Unable to accept the loss, Japaridze lunged at his opponent, punched him, and struck the fallen wrestler several more times.

Cavelius, a participant in the 2024 Paris Olympics, suffered a broken jaw and two broken teeth. He has been hospitalized.

The police are currently investigating the incident. The Georgian judoka could face a lifetime ban from competitions.

According to reports, Cavelius had been preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games.
