'Wizard' known for sprinkling powder during World Cup arrested in Ghana

Kaylani Ibrahim Kpa, a “magician” known for sprinkling white powder in the stands during Ghana’s World Cup matches, has been arrested in Ghana. Several citizens have accused him of embezzling large sums of money from them by promising to send them to the United States and Canada.

According to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, the Ghanaian fan, who gained popularity through videos circulating on social media during the 2026 World Cup, is suspected of fraud related to visa and travel arrangements. He is currently being brought to a court in Accra.

According to the testimony of the victims, Kpa took money by promising to help them travel to Canada, Nicaragua and the United States. Although local police have not disclosed the official amount of the damage caused, Yen reports that the amount of the fraud exceeds 80 thousand US dollars.

Kpa, nicknamed "Powder Man" by his fans, himself admitted that he had gone to the World Cup at his own expense, but later said that he had run out of money. During the tournament, he became famous on social media by throwing white powder into the air. It was because of these actions that many people thought he was a local shaman.
