French thieves burglarized a house in Australia using artificial intelligence

French thieves found a house in Canberra where luxury items were stored using artificial intelligence.

The burglary took place in October 2025. At that time, four intruders broke a window and took designer jewelry, bags, and watches from the house. A few days later, they were detained at a fast-food restaurant in the city of Sydney.

The accused individuals turned out to be French citizens. They fully admitted their guilt, but their defense attorneys are disputing the amount of damage caused.

In December, after the charges were announced, some of the stolen items were found in a short-term rental house. Among the missing items was a Richard Mille RM88 Smiley watch, which the owners valued at approximately $5 million.

In the Supreme Court, the value of the stolen items was reduced from $10 million to $2 million.

"The prosecution cannot prove the authenticity of the (unreturned) items beyond any reasonable doubt. The victims were unable to provide any evidence, such as receipts, proof of purchase, transaction records, or certificates, confirming that these items were genuine," the statement said.

According to the case files, the victim had posted photos of the stolen items on social media.

To determine the location, the thieves used artificial intelligence.

The neural network helped determine that a blooming cherry blossom tree was located in Canberra. The thieves then used ChatGPT, which found the address using a photo of the backyard featuring a pool and a tennis court.
