Four meters tall, carrying half a ton of load in two hands - a giant robot was demonstrated in China

China's NeodraDynamics Robotics company has presented the Neo1 humanoid robot, which stands nearly four meters tall. The manufacturer stated that its two arms are designed to lift a total load of 500 kilograms. The robot was developed to perform heavy and dangerous industrial work for humans.

It combines hydraulic mechanisms with electric drives to ensure high strength and movement accuracy.

The robot has 41 active degrees of freedom — allowing it to perform complex movements in various directions. Compact digital hydraulic drives developed by the company are used in 39 of the joints, while electric drives are used in the two rotary joints in the wrist section.

According to the company, each hydraulic drive weighs about one kilogram and can generate several tons of force. This figure differs from the robot's overall load capacity: the declared total figure for both hands is 500 kilograms.

The manufacturer is considering the possibilities of using Neo1 in assembling heavy equipment parts, cargo transportation in ports, high temperatures, and other unfavorable conditions.

The nuclear industry is also mentioned as one of the potential application areas. The company stated that radiation-resistant hydraulic modules could allow the robot to be used for handling nuclear fuel and servicing equipment. However, for this to happen, the compliance of the entire system with the relevant safety requirements must be confirmed.

Possibilities for adapting the robot to underwater technical work, mining, dismantling structures, and clearing rubble were also noted.

For now, these are the planned areas of application. Neo1's long-term operation, durability, and efficiency in real industrial conditions must be confirmed in additional tests.
