Former bank head caught taking $20,000 from citizen in Namangan

In Namangan, a former bank manager was caught taking a bribe of $20,000 from a citizen. He promised to formalize the documents for the land plot. This was reported by the press service of the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General's Office.

A citizen living in the Yangi Namangan district of the department applied to the Namangan regional department. According to the applicant, the former manager of the Namangan regional branch of Sanoat Qurilish Bank offered him to sell a land plot located in the Naryn district, which is on the balance sheet of the regional pumping stations and energy department. This land plot is planned to be leased for the development of fishing. The former bank manager said that he would formalize the cadastral documents for the land through his acquaintances. In return, he demanded $29,000 from the citizen and asked to pay $20,000 in advance.

Based on the citizen's application, an operational event was held by law enforcement agencies on July 30 of this year. During the event, the former bank head was caught taking $20,000 from an applicant in front of an apartment building in the Davlatabad district, which was chemically treated.

A criminal case has been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code on this case. Investigations are currently underway.

Earlier, it was reported that two individuals were detained in Andijan who promised to formalize 24 acres of land in the state reserve for $39,000 through official acquaintances. One of them was caught taking $25,000.

It was also reported that in July, a chief cadastral inspector was caught taking a bribe in Tashkent, and another case of illegal sale of land was revealed in Andijan. On July 15 of this year, an official in Tashkent was arrested while accepting $15,000 for signing a lease agreement for a land plot owned by a state organization and promising to reduce the rent.
