Foreign language teachers without a B2 certificate can continue their work – ministry
The Ministry of Preschool and School Education has announced that foreign language teachers who do not possess a B2 level certificate can continue their teaching activities in schools for the time being.
According to the current regulations, by the 2025/2026 academic year, all foreign language teachers working in general secondary, specialized secondary, and professional education institutions were required to have at least a B2 level national or equivalent international certificate.
However, the ministry has prepared a draft regulatory document to introduce amendments and additions to this requirement. The draft has undergone public discussion, been reviewed by interested ministries and agencies, and has been submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers.
Therefore, until the relevant decision is adopted, foreign language teachers who do not have the required level of certificate can continue working in schools.
It was stated that additional information on the matter will be provided after the relevant decision of the Cabinet of Ministers is adopted.
As a reminder, a draft government resolution was previously put up for public discussion, which stated that it was planned to terminate employment contracts with teachers who do not possess the required national or international certificate.
