The UN emblem depicts a map of the world surrounded by olive branches. They represent the main task of the organization, which is to maintain peace throughout the world.
The UN headquarters buildings are located in the eastern part of Manhattan Island in New York, between 42nd and 48th Streets, First Avenue, and the East River strait. The area within the designated territory is more than 70 thousand square meters and is considered an international territory, but it is subject to US laws. In addition to the buildings in New York, the UN has regional headquarters in Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), and Nairobi (Kenya).
Six languages have official status at the UN. Most documents are published in English, Arabic, Spanish, Chinese, Russian, and French. However, the working languages are English and French. As for its organizational structure, the activities of the UN are governed by six main organs.
