First UK charges brought over 1994 Rwanda genocide

Dr Vincent Brown, formerly Dr Vincent Bajinya, 65, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday charged with seven offences.

A Rwandan man who has been living in north London has been charged with offences linked to the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

The Crown Prosecution Service said this is the first time charges connected to the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda have been brought in the UK.

Dr Vincent Brown, formerly Dr Vincent Bajinya, 65, has been charged with one count of conduct ancillary to genocide and six counts of conduct ancillary to murder as a crime against humanity.

He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.
