Financial Literacy: Who is an Assistance?
An assistance is an intermediary between an insurance company and the insured person, which organizes the necessary help when an insured event occurs.
For example, if a person is insured for a trip abroad and falls ill during the journey, the assistance can select a medical institution, organize the insured person's visit, and arrange other services provided for by the insurance contract.
At the same time, the assistance does not replace the insurance company. It operates on the basis of an agreement with the insurer and organizes services within the framework of the insurance conditions.
Who pays for the services?
According to Article 26 of the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Insurance Activity", the costs of assistance services are paid by the insurer. The policyholder or the insured person does not have to pay for them separately, unless otherwise provided by the contract.
In other words: if an insured event occurs, the assistance helps the person receive the help that is provided for by their insurance contract.
