"Eternal friendship" with China: Senate approves the law

At its plenary session on October 3, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the law "On the Ratification of the Treaty on Eternal Good-Neighborliness, Friendship, and Cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Republic of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the People's Republic of China (Astana, June 17, 2025)".

This treaty is the first multilateral international document signed within the framework of the "Central Asia – China" format, establishing the legal foundations for long-term cooperation between the Central Asian states and the PRC.

It provides for the development of strategic partnership relations based on the principles of sovereign equality of states, territorial integrity, non-interference in internal affairs, non-use of force, and peaceful resolution of disputes.

The document also outlines the expansion of political dialogue mechanisms, the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation, the strengthening of transport and communication links, and the deepening of cooperation in energy, industrial cooperation, digital technologies, "green" development, and humanitarian fields.

According to the Senate, the implementation of the treaty will open up new opportunities for important projects such as the construction of the China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan railway, the development of transport corridors, the modernization of logistics infrastructure, and the development of the "Electronic Silk Road" trading platform.
