In Great Britain, ChatGPT was able to detect that a 7-year-old boy had suffered a stroke.

The incident occurred in May 2026. A British woman's 7-year-old son said during swimming that he felt numbness, a "crawling" sensation, and weakness on the left side of his body.

After that, the mother asked ChatGPT what these symptoms could be caused by. The artificial intelligence indicated the possibility of a stroke and recommended taking the boy to a doctor.

The mother took the boy to the hospital. However, after an examination, the doctors sent him home.

In the following weeks, the boy's condition worsened. On June 25, he woke up feeling nauseous, began to hallucinate, did not respond to those around him, and could barely move.

"My child woke up and said he was feeling unwell, then vomited several times. He was very confused: he was laughing, couldn't walk, couldn't hold his body up, and his eyes were closed. He didn't respond to my words at all," says the boy's mother.

According to her, the boy was constantly drooling. Initially, the mother attributed her son's worsening condition to the severe heat observed in Great Britain. On that day, the air temperature rose to 38 degrees.

"On the day when the temperature was 38 degrees, I thought everything could be due to the heat," she said.

However, the boy's condition in the hospital became very severe. According to his mother, he exhibited seizure-like symptoms and screamed in pain. Only after the persistent demands of his relatives was a full medical examination conducted on him.

As a result of the examination, it was revealed that one of the brain arteries was blocked, which had caused an ischemic stroke.

The boy was immediately taken to a specialized clinic and kept in an induced coma for three weeks. Doctors rated his chances of recovery as very low. In the best-case scenario, it was said that the boy might recover to the level of being able to button a shirt with his right hand.

Despite this, on August 11, the boy was discharged from the hospital. Now he is relearning to walk and speak. However, the damage to the brain has led to a serious regression in his development. Currently, his mother is engaged in his rehabilitation.

A representative of the hospital association formally apologized to the family and stated that an internal investigation had been launched to study why doctors failed to detect the stroke at an early stage.
