Direct flights launched between Urgench and Almaty

Starting September 3, direct regular flights have begun operating between Almaty and Urgench. The new route has connected the major Kazakhstani city with the Khorezm Region without layovers.

Flights will operate twice a week — on Thursdays and Sundays. The route is seasonal and is primarily aimed at developing tourist flow between the two countries.

Urgench remains the main air gateway for travel to Khiva and other tourist destinations in the Khorezm Region. The Tourism Committee expects that the new air service will make the region more accessible for travelers from Kazakhstan and reduce travel time.

In particular, additional trains have been directed to Khiva, Kungrad, Shavat, Termez, and Sariasia.
