Deposits in the banking system of Uzbekistan reached 482.7 trillion soums as of August 1, 2026. This figure is 34 percent or more than 122 trillion soums higher than the level of a year ago. In the same period last year, the volume of deposits was 360.4 trillion soums. This was reported by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.

Deposits became the fastest-growing area among the main indicators of the banking system. At the same time, changes were also observed in the structure of deposits by maturity.

Demand deposits increased from 106.8 trillion soums to 142 trillion soums. However, their share in total deposits decreased slightly, falling from 30 percent to 29 percent.

Short-term time deposits placed for a period of up to one year increased from 120.5 trillion soums to 175.7 trillion soums. Their share rose from 33 percent to 36 percent. Conversely, the share of deposits with a maturity of more than one year decreased from 37 percent to 34 percent. At the same time, their absolute volume increased from 133 trillion soums to 164.9 trillion soums.

During the same period, the assets of the banking system grew by 19 percent, reaching 1,016.6 trillion soums from 852.4 trillion soums.

Bank loan portfolios increased by 12 percent. The volume of loans grew from 576.2 trillion soums to 644.6 trillion soums. As a result, the volume of loans directed to the economy increased by nearly 68.4 trillion soums over the year.

The total capital of the banking system amounted to 150.6 trillion soums. A year ago, this figure was 127 trillion soums. Thus, the total capital of banks grew by 19 percent.

According to the Central Bank, the growth rate of deposits exceeding the growth rate of lending is expanding the internal resource base of banks.
