A decapitated baby's body was discovered near the gate of a crematorium in India. Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the child's death.
The body was found in the Mubarakpur Dabas area of Delhi following a report from local residents. The baby was approximately two to three months old. The body has been sent for forensic examination.
According to the police, the forensic examination will clarify the cause of the child's death, as well as whether the body was abandoned after the child died or if the child was killed and brought to the location.
"It is suspected that the child died of natural causes and someone may have desecrated the body as part of an occult practice. However, this has not yet been confirmed," a police officer said.
Investigators have formed several teams to examine evidence, question potential witnesses, and locate the baby's head. Law enforcement agencies are also inspecting the crematorium area. Interviews are being conducted with crematorium staff to determine how the body ended up at the gate.
Senior police officers from the Rohini district also arrived at the scene. Law enforcement agencies are establishing the sequence of events. A day earlier, the body of an unidentified person with injury marks on the body was found in another area of North Delhi. The identity of the deceased has not yet been established.
