Cross-border electronic document management has been launched between Russia and Uzbekistan

On September 23, in Tashkent, within the framework of the business mission of Russian digital sector companies "Russia — Uzbekistan. Digital Bridge of Technologies and Opportunities," led by the Deputy Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Alexander Shoitov, and supported by the Trade Representation of Russia in Uzbekistan, a plenary session dedicated to the launch of cross-border electronic document management was held.

"The launch of cross-border electronic document management is one of the concrete practical steps towards further deepening trade and economic cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan. At the same time, we are not talking about a project starting from scratch. Significant preparatory work has already been carried out by Russian and Uzbek colleagues,"

noted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Uzbekistan, Oleg Erkhov.

As the diplomat reported, within the framework of the pilot project of the Federal Tax Service of Russia and the Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, a scheme for exchanging electronic shipping documents between participants in foreign economic activity of the two countries was practically tested. Moreover, the significance of this project goes beyond electronic document management itself. It demonstrates the possibility of practically integrating the national digital systems of Russia and Uzbekistan and creates a foundation for the further development of digital services supporting trade, logistics, and production ties between both countries.

"The successful launch of cross-border EDM will become another concrete example of how the Russian-Uzbek relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance are being filled with new technological content. I expect that today's work will also become the basis for new joint projects aimed at developing trade, industrial cooperation, and increasing the competitiveness of our countries' businesses," Oleg Erkhov expressed confidence.

Representatives of Russian and Uzbek technology companies, together with employees of relevant government bodies and organizations of the two countries, discussed the transition of cross-border electronic document management from pilot solutions to industrial operation, the development of trust infrastructure, the possibilities of using electronic signatures, and cybersecurity issues.
