Cristiano Ronaldo marries long-time partner Georgina Rodríguez

The Portuguese superstar has posted an image of two hands - presumed to be his on top of his wife's - both wearing wedding rings.

Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo has officially tied the knot with his long-term partner, model and influencer Georgina Rodríguez, in a civil ceremony held in Portugal.

The Portuguese forward shared an image on his Instagram account, depicting two hands, presumably his atop his wife's, both adorned with wedding rings.

Portuguese media are dubbing it the "wedding of the year," reporting that the couple exchanged vows on August 11 in Cascais, a coastal town near Lisbon. Their five children were reportedly in attendance. The Instagram post garnered over 3 million likes within half an hour of its upload.

The couple's relationship spans a decade, having first met at a Gucci store in Madrid where Rodríguez was employed. At that time, Ronaldo was playing for the Spanish club Real Madrid.

Their engagement was announced on August 11 of the previous year. Rodríguez marked the occasion by posting a picture of a substantial ring, accompanied by the Spanish caption, "Yes I do. In this and in all my lives."

Ronaldo's illustrious career has seen him net nearly 1,000 goals while playing for Sporting Lisbon, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, and the Portuguese national team.

He recently participated in his sixth World Cup, a record for men's finals appearances that he shares with Argentina's Lionel Messi.
