On Saturday, August 8, more than 2,000 fans packed the Funchal Cathedral in his hometown of Madeira, Portugal, to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo's wedding. However, two locals, Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira, were getting married in the church that day.

On the morning of August 8, a large crowd gathered outside the cathedral after tabloids falsely reported that Ronaldo and his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez were getting married there. Local media reported that the couple had also booked the five-star Savoy Palace hotel near the cathedral for their wedding reception.

However, the fans did not attend the wedding of the footballer, but of Fabio Ramos and Fatima Nicole Cunha Teixeira. The young bride and groom, along with their relatives and friends, had to wade through the crowd to enter the cathedral where the wedding was to be held.

One guest said: “This is unbelievable. Why does everyone think Fabio is Cristiano Ronaldo? The bride is very upset, afraid that this chaos will ruin her wedding.”

The priest of the Funchal Cathedral, Marcos Gonçalves, confirmed that no other ceremonies were planned that day: “This is the only wedding ceremony that will take place here today. I have no bookings for Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Ronaldo himself reacted to the incident, leaving smiling emoticons under a video of the wedding ceremony on social media.
