The Consulate General of Uzbekistan has begun its work in Seattle

The solemn opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan was held in the city of Seattle. The consulate has been operating since the spring of this year.

This event marked the official launch of the diplomatic mission on the West Coast of the United States.

The opening of new diplomatic missions in major US metropolitan areas — Seattle, Philadelphia, Chicago, and Orlando — is envisaged by the Presidential decree on the establishment of the American–Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council.

One of the main tasks of the consulates is designated as ensuring integration with Uzbek diasporas across the country, as well as assisting in the promotion of trade and economic projects.

The diplomatic mission in Seattle will also directly assist Komil Allamjonov, who is serving as the Minister-Counselor of the Embassy in Washington and as a representative of the Presidential Administration in the United States.

Prior to the expansion of the diplomatic presence, Uzbekistan's only missions in the United States were the Embassy in Washington and the Consulate General in New York.

With the opening of the mission in Seattle, citizens of the republic and entrepreneurs on the Pacific Coast have gained a full-fledged diplomatic and consular representative.
