Congress has fully passed into the hands of the Democrats, while Trump is "ready for cooperation"
In the midterm elections held in the US on November 3, the Democratic Party won a majority in both houses of Congress. According to Associated Press data, Democrats secured 53 seats in the Senate and at least 223 seats in the House of Representatives. As a result, President Donald Trump is losing the ability to fully control Congress.

The struggle in the Senate yielded the most unexpected results of the election. A majority in the 100-seat chamber requires 51 seats, as in the event of a 50:50 tie, the decisive vote would have been cast by the Republican Vice President J.D. Vance.
Democrats flipped at least 7 seats from Republicans and now hold 53 seats in the Senate. They won in North and South Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Iowa, Maine, and Kansas.
Democrats also achieved a major victory in the House of Representatives. A majority in the 435-seat chamber requires 218 seats. Democrats flipped 25 seats from Republicans.
Even though Republicans, at Trump's initiative, redrew congressional district boundaries in a number of states, this did not save them from defeat. For example, in Kentucky's 6th district, which Trump won by a 15 percent margin in 2024, a Democratic candidate also emerged victorious.
Governors were also elected in 36 states during the midterm elections. According to AP, Democrats flipped four governorships from Republicans.
The biggest sensation was caused by the result in Texas: state Representative Gina Hinojosa defeated three-term Governor Greg Abbott. With this, she will become the state's first Democratic governor in nearly 40 years.
According to AP estimates, there are currently Democratic governors in 25 states and Republican governors in 19 states, with counting still underway in the remaining six.
The new US Congress will begin its work on January 3. The Democratic majority in the House of Representatives will allow them to lead committees. Through this, they will have the authority to issue subpoenas and conduct investigations into the Trump administration, his family, and his business.
