China intends to establish an international AI cooperation center for the BRICS countries. Chinese President Xi Jinping announced this at the 18th summit of the association in New Delhi.
As the Chinese leader noted, the new platform will be designed for the joint development of artificial intelligence technologies and the exchange of experience, primarily among the countries of the Global South. Xi Jinping called on the BRICS nations to join the center's work.
Beijing also advocates for more active development of open-source technologies and for the joint use of research and development results in the field of AI.
China proposes to place a special emphasis on the application of artificial intelligence in industry. China is ready to cooperate with partners in AI research and implementation, as well as to develop interaction in production and supply chains.
The 18th BRICS summit is taking place in New Delhi on September 12–13 under the presidency of India. The meeting's agenda includes technology, trade and investment, energy and food security, healthcare, as well as the reform of global institutions.
Artificial intelligence is already among the areas of cooperation for the BRICS countries. In 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed creating an alliance of the association in the field of AI. In 2025, the development and regulation of artificial intelligence were also included in the list of BRICS priorities.
