In the final — 11th round of the 46th World Chess Olympiad, the main team of Uzbekistan will compete against Ukraine.
In the 10th round, Ukraine defeated China with a score of 3:1 and rose to 4th place in the tournament standings with 16 points. This team consists of strong chess players such as Igor Kovalenko, Vasyl Ivanchuk, Igor Samunenkov, and Roman Degtiarov.
After 10 rounds, Uzbekistan-1 is the sole leader with 18 points. The closest pursuer — India has 17 points.
India's opponent in the final round will be Hungary, which currently occupies 5th place in the tournament standings.
If Uzbekistan wins against Ukraine, they will become the Olympiad champions regardless of other results.
A draw could also be sufficient for Uzbekistan: in this case, even if India wins and equals the number of points, tie-break indicators will be taken into account. Currently, Uzbekistan has 378, while India has 343.5 (a significant advantage).
