Central Asian Energy Trade Unions Set on a Unified Course

Trade unions of the energy complex of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan plan to strengthen their cooperation. Representatives of the sectoral organizations held an online meeting dedicated to exchanging experience and establishing direct working contacts.

This was reported by the information service of the Federation of Trade Unions of Uzbekistan.

The discussion was attended by organizations representing the interests of thousands of workers in the electricity, oil and gas, geology, and nuclear industries.

The main topic of the meeting was how to make the cooperation between the trade unions of Central Asian countries closer and more effective.

The parties discussed the exchange of experience, holding joint events, and establishing direct working contacts between sectoral structures.

The meeting participants highly praised the activities of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Central Asian Countries and the Organization of Trade Unions of Turkic States, which have been promoting the development of regional cooperation for a number of years.

The current meeting was a continuation of the dialogue initiated earlier. On July 8–9, a Subregional Conference was held in Tashkent within the framework of IndustriALL Global Union, which became the first step towards strengthening cooperation.

Now, the cooperation is being translated into practical terms. To this end, Sobirzhon Egamberdiev, Advisor on International Relations to the Chairman of the Republican Council of the Trade Union of Energy, Oil, Gas, and Geology Workers of Uzbekistan, was elected as the coordinator of intersectoral cooperation.
