Cate Blanchett will not participate in the American version of "Squid Game"

The Netflix streaming platform has abandoned the planned project based on the series "Squid Game" by director David Fincher. This project was supposed to be an English-language spin-off of the series.

At the end of 2024, the media reported that David Fincher was working on a spin-off of the popular series. Initially planned as a full-length film, the project was later planned to be turned into a series under the working title "Heckler".

According to the plot, the events were planned to take place in North America, and the filming was planned to be organized in the UK. The participation of American actress Cate Blanchett in the final part of "Squid Game" also increased interest in the project.

Although many took her appearance in the series finale as a hint that the games would continue in the United States, the creators of the project denied this assumption. Director David Fincher has set his sights on other projects for Netflix, including "The Adventures of Cliff Bat," a sequel to Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood."
