Cartoon "The Little Girl and the Frog" Banned in Ukraine

The cartoon "The Little Mermaid" has been banned in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has imposed sanctions on the creators of the Russian cartoon "The Little Mermaid". The relevant decree was published on the official website of the Ukrainian head of state on August 20.

The restrictions apply to the Animakkord studio, which created the cartoon, and five Russian individuals, including the studio's founder, general director, screenwriter, co-author and owner of the rights to the cartoon.

According to a statement by the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, "The Little Mermaid" spreads pro-Russian ideas under the guise of children's content and therefore poses a threat to the national security of Ukraine.

**The cartoon "The Little Mermaid" has also been criticized in other countries**

In July, a group of British politicians sent an open letter to the Minister of Culture demanding that the cartoon be removed from streaming services, calling it propaganda.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsakhkna said in June that the cartoon “The Little Mermaid and the Little Mermaid” was “part of the Kremlin’s soft power.” He said that “children’s entertainment content is infused with pro-Kremlin and militaristic ideas, while simultaneously normalizing Russia’s aggression and imperialist ambitions.” The cartoon “The Little Mermaid and the Little Mermaid” has also been banned in Iran, the United States, and Canada.
