Car Market: In Uzbekistan, Demand Shifts Toward New Cars and Electric Vehicles

At the end of July, the total volume of car sales in Uzbekistan amounted to nearly 80 thousand units, keeping the previous month's figures at a stable level. According to a new analytical report by the Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR), the main growth was driven by new cars and electric vehicles.

Passenger car sales reached 61.1 thousand units. At the same time, the primary and secondary markets showed different trends:

**Primary market:** sales of new passenger cars increased by 5.9% and amounted to 25.4 thousand units. The main contribution was made by the domestic auto industry — sales of local cars grew by 8.3% to 20.4 thousand units. Conversely, sales of new foreign cars decreased slightly — by 3% to 5 thousand units.

**Secondary market:** demand for used passenger cars decreased by 4.4% — 35.7 thousand units were sold over the month.

The most notable growth is shown by the electric vehicle segment. In July, total sales of electric cars in the primary and secondary markets increased by 10.8% and reached 9.3 thousand units.

Positive dynamics in electric vehicle sales were recorded in most regions of the republic, with the largest increase noted in the Tashkent (+699 units) and Fergana (+428 units) regions.

The capital remains the main sales hub — Tashkent accounted for 6 thousand of the total volume of electric cars sold.
