Head coach of the Uzbekistan national team Fabio Cannavaro may potentially continue his career at one of the clubs in Mexico or the United States. To this end, the Italian specialist has signed an agreement with a representation agency in Latin America.

This was reported by TUDN TV channel journalist Francisco Arredondo on the "Línea de 4" program.

According to the journalist, Cannavaro has established cooperation with an agency operating in Latin America. This agency will explore opportunities to find suitable offers for the Italian specialist in Mexico's Liga MX or the United States' MLS.

At the same time, there is currently no information about Cannavaro negotiating or reaching an agreement with any club.

As a reminder, the 2006 World Cup winner and Ballon d'Or recipient Fabio Cannavaro arrived in Tashkent with his coaching staff on October 6, 2025, and was appointed head coach of the Uzbekistan national team on the same day.

He replaced Timur Kapadze, who had led the national team to the 2026 World Cup. Prior to Cannavaro's appointment, back in June 2025, the Uzbekistan team had secured a ticket to the World Cup for the first time in its history.

The Italian specialist's main task was to prepare the team for the 2026 World Cup held in the USA, Mexico, and Canada.

Under Cannavaro's leadership, the Uzbekistan national team made its debut at the World Cup. However, the team exited the tournament in the group stage after losing to Colombia, Portugal, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

After the World Cup, various questions arose regarding the Italian specialist's future with the national team.

First Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Football Association Ravshan Irmatov announced on July 14, 2026, that Cannavaro's contract with the UFA is valid until October 2027.

According to him, the coaching staff will continue selection work and preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup based on the post-World Cup analysis.

Currently, Cannavaro is the active head coach of the Uzbekistan national team. Reports about his potential move to a Mexican or US club relate to his prospective future career.
